Danielle

Hi, my name is
Danielle!

And disheshaven is my little corner of the internet.

I launched disheshaven in the summer of 2018 while I was still working full‑time as a graphic designer in Asheville, NC. I’d been cooking for my family on weekends, and a friend asked me to write down the recipe for my first attempt at a sourdough loaf. That one post turned into a habit, and by the end of 2019 the site had its first 1,000 monthly visitors. Today the blog welcomes over 45,000 readers each month and houses more than 120 tested recipes.

The site has grown beyond a simple recipe archive. In March 2022 I released my first e‑cookbook, “Mountain Meals,” which sold 3,200 copies in its first month. A second cookbook followed in 2024, and I now run a monthly newsletter that reaches 7,800 subscribers. I also host a quarterly live‑cook series on Instagram, where I share behind‑the‑scenes tips with a community that’s become my extended family.

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway with my husband Mark and our two kids, Sam (8) and Lily (5). Our favorite post‑hike ritual is a quick picnic of fresh fruit and a slice of the sourdough I baked the night before. I love collecting vintage kitchen tools, listening to indie folk while I stir, and planning my next garden plot for heirloom tomatoes.

If you ever drop by disheshaven, you’ll see that every recipe is a snapshot of my life—messy, honest, and always a little bit experimental. I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope my food brings a bit of comfort and curiosity to your own kitchen.
